I use the Canon Powershot A75, I feel it's a great camera for the beginner, which I am, And I post-process in Photoshop elements 3.0, which I'm still learning also.
I understand what you mean about conveying to others what you see, I find that challenge one of my favorite parts of photography and quite a challenge it can be at times! :)
