Peek-A-Boo

My nephew was following me around one day as I was taking photos of his moms flowers & just as I was taking this shot of her gorgeous roses he poked his little face down into the shot.
The look of mischief in his eye tells it all! Posted by Picasa

River Sunset

My sisters going to kill me, we were talking yesterday about getting out to get some photos of a sunset someday soon........well I couldn't help myself, (sorry sis) jumped into the car tonight, rode down to the river, climbed down a steep incline (almost breaking my neck), got chewed up by skeeters.....but it was so worth it! College Greenhouse

No flowers today, just the building they grow in :)

Queen Annes Lace

I didn't know that Queens Anne Lace is also known as a wild carrot!
Before these flowers are fully in bloom they tend to droop their flower head, folding their tiny flowers inward. I find them more interesting to look at when they're drooped over like this! Posted by Picasa

Bursting Balloons!

My Balloon Flowers are bursting!
These have a slight pink veining, I also have some with a very light blue veining. Not only is the flower attractive but the bud is so cool looking, it's similar in shape to a hot air balloon. Posted by Picasa

Sunflower Obsession

This past weekend I became obsessed with one of my sisters Sunflower buds, something about the deep purple veins in the leaves, or maybe it was the fuzziness of the bud.
I have a hard time with getting any closer with my cameras macro, without it looking like a big blurry blob. (hoping to solve that problem soon, looking into getting a new macro lens!)
Can't wait to see this Sunflower in its full glory! Posted by Picasa

Everlastings

These flowers are also known as Strawflowers, this is one of my moms favorite flowers, and boy does she know how to grow 'em! Posted by Picasa

Soggy Sunset

What an awesome sight this was, after visiting some friends who were camping. Most of the day was dry but as soon as they went to cook it started pouring, nothing like being crushed together under tarps like sardines, soaking wet, mud up to your knees, skeeters chomping on your ears........wouldn't have traded it for nothing !!
As my nephew and I were leaving we pulled into the boat ramp to watch the sunset, great ending to a great day! Posted by Picasa

Tiny Toad

Just a fun photo !
Found this tiny little toad while visiting my brothers camp, grabbed it so that I could show it to my 2 nieces, (ages 1 and 3), who got a kick out of it! After enjoying this little guys (or gal?) company we safely let it go in the woods.Posted by Picasa

Sisters Common Bond

#1

#2
My sister started me on this photography journey & as the two of us venture out together or apart from each other we often find ourselves spotting the same things to take photos of, often at different angels. We've always been close so when this happens we just shake our heads and laugh :-)
So as it happened just this week, she took some shots of mushrooms on Sunday (which I didn't know of) & posted them on her photoblog & then on Monday I went out to visit some friends and took these shots!
It's seems sometimes that we have some sort of telepathic link, creepy, but kinda fun!! Posted by Picasa

Caines Hazy River

Wicked hazy, hot & humid weather here in New England.
When driving home after picking up my nephew I spotted some haze hanging over a river, without to much fuss from my 9-almost-10 year old nephew :-) we stopped so I could get some shots. Posted by Picasa

I've named this photo for my nephew, for having patience with me and my addiction to photography.
(He was waiting to get to my house to play some games on my computer :-) Thanks buddy!

Lupine Diamonds

I went browsing my sisters gardens for some different kinds of flowers, although the flowers of her lupine have passed, the foliage caught my eye with tiny droplets clinging along the edge of each leaf & the center holding these wonderful pools of water, sparkling like diamonds Posted by Picasa

Wild Reflection

Started my vacation today....whoopee!!
Did nothing all day but mess around with the camera :-)
This shot is of a wild black-eyed susan reflecting into a mirror, the light background is actually the ceiling.
The lighting was pretty shabby and I had a hard time with getting it to be as clear as I wanted it. I don't usually mess to much with my photos other then to lighten or darken them a bit, snip around the edges maybe.
I really liked the composition of this shot, so I went into photoshop to see what I could do with it, basically all I did was crop a tiny bit, lightened it some, upped the saturation & got rid of some noise.
All in all I'm pretty happy with the final results!Posted by Picasa

Fungus Amongus

Another shot taken down by the river. Posted by Picasa

Nature has been for me, for as long as I remember, a source of solace, inspiration, adventure, and delight; a home, a teacher, a companion.

Gettin' Ready

My black-eyed Susans are gettin' ready to open, love to see them everyday as their petals untwist, a new pattern each day and also to watch the color change from light yellow to a deep dark yellow. Posted by Picasa

Jiminy Cricket!

I'm not much of a bug fan, but I found this not so little critter (about 3/4 inch long) in my kitchen sink the other morning, I don't even want to know how it got there! I pretty much freaked out when I spotted it staring at me, so I put a cup over it, went to work (hoping upon hope that it would expire under the cup--yeah right!) Came home from work and I knew I had to get rid of it somehow, so I slid some paper under the cup wrapped the paper around the cup and ran for the door, I think it was pretty tired out from being under the cup all day that it just sat there on the sidewalk, giving me plenty of time to grab the camera.
So we sat for a while, me taking shot after shot, it sitting ever so still, went out later and it was gone..............hoppy trails! lol Posted by Picasa

Blazingstar

My Blazingstar also known as Gayfeather, (another plant shared from my
sisters garden) is just starting to bloom, can't wait for the tall spikes to be fully opened with feathery blooms!

College Town

I grew up in a college town, sad to say neither my
sister or I have ever walked the campus til this past weekend. Happy to say that our interest in photography has us traveling to so many interesting spots right here in our own home town. I love the styles of the old buildings, almost feels like your carried back in time.Posted by Picasa

Mount Holyoke College was founded by Mary Lyon in 1837, a time when the overwhelming majority of women didn't even consider attending college. Today, Mount Holyoke enrolls about 2,000 students. They hail from every state in the union and more than 60 countries around the world.
Mount Holyoke College holds distinction as the nation's oldest continuing institution of higher education for women and ranks as one of the nation's finest liberal arts colleges.

Warped Walkway

This wooden walkway runs along the river and to the dock that I posted below, the reason for it being warped is that this area is just above a dam & in the spring the water will rise up as high or higher than the rails of this walkway, they have to tie it down with cables to ensure that it doesn't get busted up when the water runs high. River Walk

Took a walk down to the river with my
sister, we're learning photography together and trying to get out to some local spots to practice the craft.
The old dock and surrounding area is quite a fun place to find many interesting shots, just have to watch out for all the poison ivy! Posted by Picasa
