Hills of Fire
Driving home from work today I always look to the river to see how high it is, with all the rain we've had. It's raging!!
We also haven't seen the sun very often this autumn so as I drove by this area and spotted patches of sunlight on the hills, (the lighting was real funky) I ran home & grabbed the camera.
The waters really high, the folks who live along the river usually have a lot more land between their homes and the water, pretty scary stuff!
The oranges and yellows seem to be the prominent colors this fall, still hoping to capture more autumn colors before all the wind and rain that we've been having drop all the leaves.

B&W
A fellow photoblogger suggested that I try turning this photo B&W. I hadn't even thought to change it till Tobias said anything. I actually think I may like it even better than the colored version.

Quality Time
My Niece & I spent some time together the other day to take some photos, this photo is from our day spent together.
She really wants to learn photography so I started a photoblog for her a few months ago in hopes to inspire her to learn more.
I can tell she's hooked, cause she'll call me to tell me of this beautiful sunrise she has seen, but was upset because she didn't have her camera..... this is one of the first signs of addiction--feelings of loss when without camera.....

Water Worn
During the 1920's it became apparent that Eastern Massachusetts did not have a large enough water supply to satisfy its growing needs. Thirsty Eastern Massachusetts inhabitants looked westward at the pristeen Swift River 100 miles away from Boston. This river flowed through a beautiful series of small towns nestled in the Swift River valley. Through a series of "buyouts" the inhabitants of these towns were tossed out of their homes in preparation for construction of a reservoir.
Houses were bulldozed, bodies dug up (except for Native Americans), factories demolished and millions acres of trees were cut down. Four towns Dana, Enfield, Greenwich and Prescott were wiped off the face of the Earth and seven other towns were affected. A half mile long dam was built on the Swift River in Belchertown MA and one of the longest tunnels in the world was constructed to carry the water a hundred miles to the east. Flooding of the valley started in mid August 1939.The valley slowly filled with water and in 1946 the reservior was filled to capacity ( 412 billion gallons) and nearly 40 square miles were covered with water. The new reservoir was named after a Native American chief of a local tribe. The chief's name was Nani-Quaben. The name, which was given to a hill in Enfield and a lake in Greenwich means " well watered place."

Wonder
This weed (I think? I have no idea what it is!) is growing behind my neighbors house. For some reason lately I've become fascinated with weeds! Maybe it's the camera in my hand, it can make even weeds look pretty :)
(HELP! If anyone knows what this is, please let me know, I've checked for it in all my books & I can't find it!)
